We built a specialized AI assistant that understands quantum computing concepts, searches and summarizes relevant literature, suggests circuit optimizations, and runs simulations to validate ideas before expensive hardware time.
Quantum computing is a rapidly evolving field with dense, highly technical literature. The AI needed genuine understanding of quantum mechanics principles, circuit design patterns, and error correction strategies — not just keyword matching. Circuit optimization suggestions needed to be physically realizable on actual quantum hardware with its specific constraints.
We built a RAG system over the arxiv quantum computing corpus with a model fine-tuned on quantum computing papers and textbooks. The circuit optimization module uses a combination of known optimization techniques (gate cancellation, commutation) with ML-based pattern recognition for non-obvious simplifications. Qiskit integration allows direct simulation of suggested circuits.
